Modular Capture Vessels

AET’s Modular Capture Vessel Eagle Texas in open waters.

World's only Modular Capture Vessels Operator

We are the world’s only operator of these highly specialised Modular Capture Vessels included in our Aframax fleet designed to perform hydrocarbon capture in the event of a well incident.

Our MCVs can carry out the safe capture of hydrocarbon by combining Floating Production Storage and Offloading and dynamic positioning technology in a single Aframax hull.

Operational Excellence Up to 10,000 feet

Their adaptable design means that they can handle a wide range of subsea well conditions, wellhead connection scenarios, weather conditions and can operate at depths of up to 10,000 feet. The MCV requires a highly skilled team and efficient processes ashore and afloat to mount an operation.

To hone our response readiness, we regularly conduct simulated incidents. Trading within the US Gulf of Mexico, our MCVs are ever ready to respond to an incident there.

Eagle Texas MCV in the ocean

World’s first Modular Capture Vessel Converted from an Aframax Tanker

The MCVs will operate as normal tankers in the US Gulf of Mexico and would be deployed for containment services in the event of a deepwater well control incident in the region.

The vessel is capable of storing up to 700,000 barrels of oil, and is equipped with 19.68 km of pipes, 292 km of electrical cables, and equipment connecting to the riser assembly that directs the flow from the subsea components, separate liquid from gas, storing the liquids and flaring the gas.
